85. A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

THE CAPITAL OF MY COUNTRY DESERVES APPRECIATION

If a foreign visitor has mere one single day to stay in my country, I would advise him or her to visit the capital of my country -- Beijing, which has a several thousands years' history. In the city of Beijing, the visitor will experience amazing things and will never forget in later life.

In the first place, in museums seated in Beijing, such as the National Museum, the visitor has a good opportunity of encountering invaluable treasures produced in my country. For instance, the golden stature of the Qing Dynasty represents the first-class artwork in the world during that time. Besides, the Si Mu vessel, once used for cooking in ancient times, made up of copper, reflects the developed techniques of refining medal. From those ancient cultural relics, the visitor can sense the centuries-old history of China, and better understand historical culture of the Yellow River.

Secondly, Beijing is also a internationalized place where there are a lot of modern grand architectures. The pattern of main roads in Beijing resembles several rectangles that overlap, which may be a attracting trait to foreign visitors. Furthermore, the 29th Olympic Games were just held in Beijing several days ago, and it leaves numerous precious fortunes to Beijing. For example, Bird's Nest, the national stadium, where the opening ceremony was held, gives positive appearance of Beijing to visitors. From the inner side of Bird's Nest, it is extremely majestic. Everyone who has been there would never forget that experience. On the opposite side of Bird's Nest seats the Cubic Water, a swimming pool, which is also a beautiful venue that deserves visiting.

Thirdly, the environment of Beijing is also a factor that a visitor from foreign countries may pay attention to. In urban areas, several large parks are located besides community. In these parks, the visitor can have a view of numerous famous trees -- for example, red pine trees, Chinese cedar trees and so forth. Not to mention all kinds of fragrant flowers. On special festivals, workers will hold specific exhibitions of flowers. During that time, the visitor will experience feast of colors and amazing patterns behaved by flowers. Furthermore, at nights of Spring Festival, people in Beijing will hold a ceremony of firecrackers which may light the sky in an astounding way.

In summary, Beijing is a city that owns both ancient culture and modern flavor. Visitors in here will certainly appreciate different patterns of pleasures which cannot be caught in other cities. Therefore, I strongly recommend Beijing as a resort for a visitor from a foreign country or district.

Earthworms, Writing, Test 4, Delta

In the passage, the author mainly talks about the positive effects that earthworms can have on forest ecosystem and in gardens. However, the speaker of the speech casts doubt on that proclamation in several aspects.

Firstly, according to the speaker, earthworms can induce to substantial damage to forest ecosystem in respect that earthworms destroy the cover of soil, which causes native organisms to disappear from that place. In the passage, the author writes that worms are beneficial for forests, which is contrary to what is said by the speaker. Moreover, the speaker says that earthworms can have huge repellant effects on forest ecosystem.

Secondly, when it comes to the matter of forest duff, the speaker and the author also disagree about the influences that earthworms pose when they bring duff deeper into the soil. In the article, the author believes that, in such process, earthworms move organic matter from the surface deeper into soil, which is beneficial for the production of organic fertilizer. Nevertheless, the speaker opposes this perspective and points out that this phenomenon will cause soil losing nutrients more rapidly. Furthermore, the speaker cites a scientific experiment led by a ecologist as evidence. In that experiment, earthworms that live near a fish lake are examined. When earthworms bring duff deeper into soil, the thick and abundant layer becomes disappeared.

Finally, the speaker also refers to the point that other animals are also harmfully influenced by earthworms, which is not mentioned in the passage. In the speaker's opinion, because earthworms have eaten the entire duff on the surface of the soil, other animals, such as spiders, birds, do not have enough food to feed on. As a result, the quantities of these animals decrease.

95. Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

FUNDAMENTAL NEEDS ON EARTH SHOULD BE CONSIDERD FIRST

From my standpoint, I hold that government should spend as much money as possible in meeting basic demands on Earth, instead of exploring outer space. People who live on Earth are the most important concern and should receive priority over experimentations on other planets in Milk Way galaxy. There are numerous reasons of doing so.

As a threshold matter, exploring outer space doesn’t mean much for us who live in Earth. Take several exploring trials in America, which aims to find whether there are livings in other planets. After all, what can we get from a rabbit eating grass on Mars? In effect, we cannot benefit from such experiments. Moreover, the little outcomes do not match enormous invests spent by government. Exploring outer space also is under high risks. For example, the discovery aircraft exploded a few minutes later after it launched into space, which caused several millions dollars' lost. Moreover, people who lost their lives cannot return back any more.

Secondly, compared with outer space exploration, fundamental needs on Earth are much more imperative. For instance, a considerable number of folks who live in Africa do not have sufficient food supply and experience food scarcity. They will die without international help -- food and other necessities. Another paramount problem is diseases that have been rampant through out the world: no matter developing countries or developed states. Perhaps the paradigmatic, epidemic disease is HIV infection. In almost each country, considerable persons have been suffered from this disease which leads to high death rates.

Thirdly, on Earth, the environment is another thorny issue with which that government ought to be concerned. In contemporary, several kinds of pollution have contributed various harm impacts on environment. For instance, deforestation in Eastern Hemisphere has caused several species face the crisis of extinction; over-produced greenhouses gas cannot be immediately absorbs by fewer forests. As a result, temperature of Earth increases stably. Rising sea level has induced that residents who live near coastlines have to move to other locations. Furthermore, severe weather conditions, such as storms, avalanches, and pouring rain, take place more and more frequently. All these things need to be solved in a hurry, and government should spend money on them.

In summary, crisis on Earth is quite more fatal than ventures into outer space. Therefore, in the final analysis, government ought to spend all sorts of resources -- for example, material resources, human resources, to meet basic needs on Earth.

Travelling, integrated writing, Test 1 Delta

In the passage, the author mainly talks about the earliest tourism and later tourism, which is confirmed by the speaker of the speech. Moreover, the speaker mentions a third kind of tourism: environmental tourism.

In the first place, at the beginning of the speech, the speaker says that the earliest travelling dues mainly to political, or economical reasons. People often conquer other tribes. Then, according to the speaker, folks venture and prey wild animals, which is the same as what is stated in the passage. The speaker also refers to a person's book which talks about tourism in ancient times and influential.

In the second place, the speaker talks tourism in contemporary, which is similar to the content of the article as well. In the speaker's speech, the speaker divides current tourism into two kinds: ethnical tourism and environmental tourism. In ethnical tourism, people mainly travel to please themselves and to recreate. The article also mentions this point. Besides, folks today, according to the speaker, go to distant places to find unusual cultures. They live with native tribes and take part in local ceremonies. Furthermore, in the speaker's speech, it is held that the goal of accessing aboriginal cultures is to protect them; or otherwise they may be lost forever.

Finally, the speaker refers to environmental tourism which is not discussed in the article. Environmental tourism is kind of the same as ethnical tourism. In this sort of travelling, people go to natural positions to observe and learn various environmental phenomena and protect wild animals and plants, rather than killing natural species. The example stated by the speaker is African safaris that aim to protect wild animals.

the Sydney Opera House, Test 3, Barron

The passage mainly represents the shpe, structure, and other aspects of Sydney Opera House, and the author of the passage considers that the roof of the house is the most spectacular part. The speaker of the speech holds that the Sydney Opera House in the most unique buiding that cannot be categoried into any existed classes.

Firstly, the speaker says that Sydney Opera House is a master work. It is unique, modern and popular all over the world. Moreover, according to the speaker, not the material, or ornamental environment that attracts her, but the shape, international style that places the opera house in a unparalelled and unique position.

Secondly, in the passage, the author mentions that computer technology helped a lot when building the opera house, which is also confirmed by the speaker. In the speaker's opinion, high technology -- the computer techniques -- helps workers better solve problems of construction. However, the speaker believes that the sails part of the opera house had posed great risk for workers to finish it. Of course, sails are also attracting the speaker.

Finally, from what is said by the speaker at last of her speech, the oprea house blends arts and techniques. Therefore, various unique characteristics can be found in the shape and structrue of the opera house. And this style of architecture, in the speaker's opinion, is completely distinctive from any other wonders in the world, which makes it hard for her to classify the Sydney Opera House into any category. Consequently, the speaker considers the Sydney Opera House as unique.

105. Students at universities often have a choice of places to live. They may choose to live in university dormitories, or they may choose to live in apartments in the community. Compare the advantages of living in university housing with the advantages of living in an apartment in the community. Where would you prefer to live? Give reasons for your preference.

I PREFER TO LIVE IN UNIVERSITY DORMS

Both living in university or college dormitories and living outside university or college in apartments in the community have several benefits, though these advantages are slightly different to some extent. If it were my choice, I would like to live in life in dorms. There are several personal reasons of doing so.

As a threshold matter, living in campus has a lot of special benefits that living outside campus does not have. For example, expenses of living in dorms are much cheaper than dwelling in outside apartment. Rent is quite cheaper; water rates and electricity fees are shared among roommates, while all of them have to be paid by one alone if he or she decides to reside in community out of university. Moreover, when going to dorms everyday, it is convenient to catch up with what is happening among classmates, which is less likely if living alone outside. Furthermore, the environment of dorms provides a good situation and opportunity of communicating with friends, which makes a student feel that he or she lives in home.

Secondly, nevertheless, living outside campus in apartments in the community benefits students in some aspects as well. Take furniture for example. In apartments, various kinds of applications are ready for use at any time. Washing machine can save the time spent in sending and fetching clothes to and from laundry; a kitchen is excellent space where delicious and palpable cooking can be done, while food provided in university cafeteria is considered as unsuitable for eating by almost every student. Moreover, room of living room in apartment is considerable larger than dorms which has to be shared among several persons. Environment of apartment is tranquil and of no noise, which is suitable for students who want to keep a quiet life.

When it comes to me, I am prone to dwell in university dormitories. From my standpoint, there are several reasons to name. In the first hand, I cannot afford to live out of campus, and the cheap price and living expense of residing in dorms are the main factors that attract me. In the second place, living in dorms means that I don't have to ride a bus to university everyday; instead, walking or riding a bicycle is enough, which is both convenient and safe. Furthermore, I always feel safe and protected when I am ambling in campus. Getting out of university to home late at night makes me scared sometimes, because no one else accompanies me.

In summary, dwelling in dorms and residing outside campus have their advantages respectively. However, either side's benefits are not absolutely better than the opposite side. Distinctive students may have differentiating response to this question. If it were me, nevertheless, I am apt to live in university dorms.

Barron, Test 2, Turing Test

In the passage, the author describes the Turing Test that determines wheter a computer is intelligent or not, and so far, no computer has passed the test. However, the speaker of the lecture casts some doubt on the correctness of Turing Test.

The speaker mainly cites an example of an scientist who holds that Turing Test has several flaws which undermine the correctness of Turing Test. In the first place, according to what the speaker says, Turing Test is based on behavior but not thought, which may induce to some kind of paradox. The example supporting this perspective is one called Chinese Room. If there are complete and elaborated references from which a computer can access, the computer will certainly reponse a good answer that can be determined as humans'. According to the speaker, the process is like this: a computer receives Chinese characters as input, then it recognize this sequence from a huge database, and at last it gives a result based on behaivior, or searching, instead of thinking. This can prove that the computer that passes Turing Test is acting intelligent rather than being intelligent. In the second place, according to the speaker, complete input plus adequate output will be enough for a computer to pass Turing Test. However, the speaker says that this doesn't mean the computer really answer basic promblems about intelligence. Finally, the speaker conculdes that Turing Test cannot determine whether a computer can, or can not think.

115. Some people prefer to plan activities for their free time very carefully. Others choose not to make any plans at all for their free time. Compare the benefits of planning free-time activities with the benefits of not making plans. Which do you prefer — planning or not planning for your leisure time? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your choice.

DIFFERENT CHOICES UNDER DISTINCTIVE SITUATIONS

From my standpoint, both planning free-time activities and not making plans have several benefits. Generally speaking, planning free-time can make life follow certain pattern and time is not likely to be wasted; with respect to not designing schedules, it reduces complexity of life and makes people feel relaxed. When it comes to me, I would like to choose distinctive choice in different circumstances.

As a threshold matter, carefully calculating how to spend free-time can benefit folks in several aspects. In the first place, if leisure time is arranged by delicate plans, more meaningful things can be finished than in other cases. For instance, on weekends, as for students, a plan that reads reviewing on Saturday and pre-studying on Sunday certainly contribute to students' performance on tests, which is good for their later life. In the second place, planning free-time also help us with journey. For example, if we want to go to certain resorts in limited leisure time -- for example, three days, a good itinerary can lead us to more interesting places than dawdling without goals.

Secondly, with respect to not making plans, there are a few benefits as well. For example, without a pre-designed plan, folks are able to do what they want to, instead of being narrowly confined by schedules. Under this circumstance, people may feel quite relaxed, which is especially inspiring when they go home after a day long's hard working. Moreover, changes always happen and plans don't comply with reality all the time; thus, in some cases, even a elaborated plan will be out of date and be discarded by their designers. For instance, parents have decided to bring their offspring to climb hills; however, when they get up on morning, they are reluctant to find out that their children have a fever. As a result, the plan has to be abandoned.

When it comes to me, I would like to plan a period that lasts more than one week, and not to arrange my activities on purpose if free-time is less than three days. The reason why I want to schedule long time is that something valuable may be fulfilled in relatively long time. For instance, last summer, I planned to go to my community to help pupils with reading. At the time I had stayed with lovely pupils for four weeks, almost each of them had considerably ameliorated ability of reading, which made me highly satisfied. Nevertheless, if free-time is relatively short, typically less than three days, I prefer to do things according to my feelings on every day. For instance, calling a friend randomly to watch movies may help me get out of tiredness.

In summary, planning or not planning leisure time has different benefits respectively. Furthermore, either side’s benefits are not absolutely better than those of another. Under different situations, I would be prone to distinctive choices.

Barron Test1 Integrated Writing

The author of the passage cites that schools education is separated into three phases: primary education, intermediate grades and secondary grades. However, the speaker of the lecture points out several deficiencies of this system.

Firstly, this 12-graded education system doesn't take differences into account. In this system, all students are reckoned as the same. But the speaker says that it ignores individual distinctions between students. According to the speaker, some students may be not physically developed enough to attend schools; however, some other students who are 4-year-old are able to study. Moreover, the speaker holds that the difference of boys and girls on maturity is also neglected by the education system. There are physical and social differences between different genders.

Secondly, in the passage, the author points out that students who are not able to meet minimum requirements for a peculiar grade may have to repeat the year, which is also doubted by the speaker of the lecture who says that drop out rates of students throughout 12 grades are not concerned.

Thirdly, the speaker believes that standardized tests of the system also have flaws. The author of the passage doesn’t mention exception of grading method, which is critiqued by the speaker. The speaker says that the standard grading system focuses on group, and fails to notice differences between individuals and groups.

Finally, in the lecture, the speaker also casts doubt on the syllabuses of courses. In the passage, the author only cites the time of education system: 12 years, but fails to mention what content are taught in each grade. And the speaker says that this restricted 12 years' time may repeat teaching students what they have already been lectured in previous grades.

Topic 125

125. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? All students should be required to study art and music in secondary school. Use specific reasons to support your answer.

ART AND MUSIC COURSES BENEFIT STUDENTS IN SECONDARY SCHOOL

From my standpoint, I strongly assent to the statement that all students of secondary school ought to take part in compulsory art and music courses, such as fine arts, paintings, violin, and so forth. Various kinds of art and music classes will stand to benefit students a lot in future time, whether they choose art or music as their major or not.

As a threshold matter, when students study in the period of secondary school, whether in junior school or high school, almost none of them get to perceive subjects in depth; thus, they often don't know which course they should pursue later in universities or colleges, or even as a career in that kind of field. In this circumstance, it may be too narrow for them to learn sciences, for instance, physics, chemistry, mathematics, to name just a few. Art and music courses, they may experience special euphoric feelings which are completely distinctive from those in scientific lectures which may be tedious from some students' perspective. In artistic classes, students could find how to create a beautiful artwork which may give specific successful feeling back to them.

Secondly, knowledge learned in artistic and musical classes or lectures could benefits those people who take sciences as their majors. This may seem strange to some extent; however, arts and music indeed can help scientists achieve their destinations. Perhaps the paradigmatic example is Albert Einstein, who was a German-American physical scientist. It is well known that Einstein accomplished great success in physics, including the photoemission and the principle of relativity. Also, Einstein had a good telnet in playing violin. According to Einstein's statement, when he got messed up in thorny problems, he would turn to violin and forgot planets and moons for moment. Sometimes, the music of violin aroused certain inspiration of Einstein, from which Einstein found the keys to the problems.

Thirdly, from certain perspective, arts and music are able to offer special contents to secondary school students that could not be obtained in other classes. For instance, fine arts can teach students how to appreciate patterns, ideas after images and deficiencies of artworks, etc, which are certainly not explained in physical education classes. Moreover, musical master pieces reflect peculiar hallmark or stone mark of a special era, from which secondary school students may further understand that era besides reading historical books.

In summary, secondary school students should not be limited merely to scientific lessons, since art and music could offer a lot of meaning things to them, of course, from the perspective of artists instead of scientists. Therefore, in the final analysis, I definitely agree with the point that students should be required to study art and music in junior and high schools.

OG, Integrated Writting, Altruism

In the passage, the author holds that altruism is a common phenomenon among almost all species. However, the speaker opposes this theory in several aspects.

Firstly, the author of the passage considers that a meerkat stands guard for other meerkats and will alarm them if a predator is present. However, the speaker says that meerkat often eats before guarding, and thus the sentinel meerkat always has a full stomach. The result is that it behaviors much slower. Moreover, the speaker holds that sentinel meerkat is the one that is most likely to escape because it notices predators firstly, which is contrary to what is stated in the passage.

Secondly, according to the speaker, when meerkats look for food, they are under great danger, while sentinel meerkat is relatively safe. From speaker's standpoint, the sentinel meerkat's alarm will either cause other meerkats to gather together or move away, which will call predators' attention. As a result, predators will prey upon meerkats who are looking for food, rather than sentinel meerkat. Nevertheless, the author of the passage writes that sentinel meerkat is the most vulnerable one to predators, which is opposite to the speaker's words.

Thirdly, the speaker also refers to people. In speaker's opinion, people who donate kidneys to strangers may not gain something substantial, but they do achieve something in mental aspect: appreciation of the person who receives donation, approval of society. Moreover, the donators may increase self-worthy, which may be reckoned as valuable mental treasure. Thus, donators do get something as rewards. To the contrary of what the speaker says, the author of the passage believes that donator gains nothing when they give kidneys to others.

Topic 135

135. Some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms. Other high schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Which of these two school policies do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

WHETHER SCHOOL UNIFORMS ARE COMPULSORY VARIES

Whether high schools should require whole students to wear unified school uniforms primarily depends on special qualities of schools. In some ordinary schools, for example, community schools, it is better to require that uniforms must be worn. In some other cases, for example, costume schools, it is more reasonable to let students themselves to decide which clothes to wear when they go to school.

As a threshold matter, in common community schools or other state-run schools, an act that mandates all students to wear school uniforms has various benefits. On the first hand, the same costumes could diminish differences, to some extent, between students who have a good family circumstance and those who do not. As a common sense, poor students may develop some kind of self-contempt, if they find that their classmates wear expensive and luxurious clothes while they cannot afford such things. Instead, poor students only have to wear quite cheap costumes. Therefore, this psychological problem may even induce to their performance in study, which certainly ought to be prevented.

On the other hand, requiring all students to wear some sort of same uniforms also could increase sense of solidarity and pride among students. For example, when students walk in school campus, they will find persons around them wearing the same costumes. As a result, they may be prone to reckon them as one of their friends though they might not know each other. Moreover, a sort of uniforms is a logo of a school, which could be easily recognized outside schools. For instance, if a student is from a renowned school, he or she will be identified by persons in street and considered as a A-class student.

Nevertheless, in the case of special schools, it is better to give freedom to students to determine what clothes to wear. For instance, in a school that focuses on designing costumes, requiring all students to wear same uniforms is just in conflict with teaching goals of this school. A costume school teaches students to be different, creative and ingenuous. Therefore, if students are told to wear various costumes designed by them, costume schools will be filled with energy. As a result, students may produce high level products, which is beneficial for both students and schools.

In summary, policies of distinctive schools ought to depend on their specific situations. In ordinary circumstances, such as state-owned schools, it is better to execute the same uniform policy. In other cases, such as costume schools, students will be glad to have the right to determine which kind of clothe to wear themselves.

145. Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things we really do not need. Others say that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve our lives. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

ADVERTISING IMPROVES OUR LIVES

Advertisements have various forms, such as television ads, magazine ads, and ads added on websites, to name just a few. From this broad propaganda, it can be easily seen that advertises have greatly influenced our daily life. From my standpoint, I hold that advertisements tell us about innovate products which might ameliorate our daily living.

As a threshold matter, certain industrial products are able to improve our lives to a higher level, and it is advertising that makes us aware of such significant things as washing machine, dishwasher, and air conditioner. Take dishwasher for instance. Without notice of it, folks may still have to clean dishes and bowls by them, which is especially intolerable in winter when freezing running water stings hands. It is advertisements that change this tough situation. The masses get to know how great dishwashers are. Dishwashers prevent them from frigid water and save considerable time for them to spend on something more important.

Secondly, air conditioner is another example that advertisement has deeply influenced our daily life. It is safe to say that the majority of people today cannot live a life without air conditioner, which is especially true in extremely equator areas where temperature is usually as high as 35 or even higher centigrade. With the help of air conditioner, the multitudes will work in writing buildings comfortably and focus on routines instead of keeping cold. Fans will only offer noise and won't decrease temperature. Thus, ads of air conditioners have introduced a impressive product that improves our lives.

Thirdly, as for women, especially those young ladies, perhaps ads of cosmetics are the most important part of their lives -- how to keep young and free of caducity. Typically, young women care their appearances to a great extent. They purchase various makeup, such as astringent, lipstick, foundation cream, etc, all of which are given publicity by advertisements. From what is advertised on television, magazine and Internet, women get to understand which sort of makeup is the very product they need to keep young and up to date and which kind of cosmetics is the right thing that they demand to stay distinctive from others.

In summary, advertisements teach us about new products that may contribute to better lives in several aspects -- for example, house works, makeup, and transportation. These influences, indeed, can be perceived and touched during daily lives when we eat, when we drive to companies, and when we enjoy convenience brought by applicants.

155. Plants can provide food, shelter, clothing, or medicine. What is one kind of plant that is important to you or the people in your country? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice.

THE MOST PARAMOUNT PLANT IN MY COUNTRY

In my country, folks consume various kinds of plants as daily consumption, such as apples, bananas, wheat, to name just a few. However, the most paramount plant that people in my country cannot live without is hybridized rice -- which is a special selected sort of rice in Asian districts. Hybridized rice has contributed a lot to agriculture in my state.

As a threshold matter, abundant quantities that hybridized rice can produce greatly ameliorate basic needs of populaces of my country. Before this kind of rice is discovered, many regions of my state, typically some western districts, have suffered from famine problems for more than a century. It was common that a few families ate only breakfast and supper because of lack of food. Hybridized rice changed this situation. The output of rice per acre now is several times of once it was. Today people in western provinces leave a decent life due mainly to the discovery of hybridized rice.

Secondly, the time period that hybridized rice needs to grow up from shoots to matured rice is dramatically short compared to other varieties of food, for example, wheat, corn, and so forth. In one single year, farmers are able to harvest rice two times in frigid northern provinces in my country, and three times in southern districts where sunlight usually lasts more hours and has a higher intensity. As we can see, zing of hybridized rice is quite astounding. To the contrary, wheat in southern parts of my country can merely be grown once in one year. Thus, wheat is not considered as the most important plant among folks in my state.

Thirdly, another characteristic of hybridized rice is its delicious flavor. It is often believed that the more fruits a plant can produce, the less palatable the fruits are. Nevertheless, hybridized rice makes this belief out of date. The color of fruits of hybridized rice is translucent, which attracts numerous people who first see them. Moreover, the taste of the rice is mixed with fragrant odor and aromatic feeling. As a result, some people even cannot bear a day without hybridized rice. Furthermore, hybridized rice can be used to cook soup, to fry or to steam, all of which make hybridized rice suitable for broad preparation of meals.

In summary, in my country, majority of multitudes hold that hybridized rice is the most crucial plant in my country, in respect that it solves the stickler of famine, provides massive products, requires relatively low conditions to grow up, and offers savory food for us.

165. You have decided to give several hours of your time each month to improve the community where you live. What is one thing you will do to improve your community? Why? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice.

IMPROVING ENVIRONMENT IS IMPERATIVE

If I could spare several hours of my time each month to ameliorate my community, I would like to spend these time in improving environment to a good situation, in respect that current environment of my community is so bad that various problems are occurring. Therefore, something must be done to change this gosh situation.

As a threshold matter, garbage is easily seen everywhere -- including corners, streets, but not trashes. Those dispersed used cans and glass bottles have a bad smell all day long, and no one clean them. As a result, air condition has become worse and worse. Some occupants even get respiratory problems caused by polluted air. It is quite common to see folks who go through this district using tissues to mask their faces and coughing. Thus, if I could spend sometime in community work, I would pick up all these garbage into designated place. Without living rubbishes, atmosphere would be much better than it is now.

Secondly, to clean environment of my community, I would also wipe out all wastes in the Central Park which is located in the northeastern part of my region. The park now is hardly a resort for residents to patronize because majority of trees were cut and sold a couple of years ago and few are left. Today, all that can be seen is concrete benches and a barren plaza. Moreover, sanitation of the park is worsened due to some imps' dropping wastes there. Thus, in order to ameliorate this dirty location, I would clean all wastes in the park first, then plant more green trees, beautiful flowers in the Central Park.

Thirdly, another thing that has a paramount relation with environment of my community is that too many folks are selling stuff along the Main Street, which induce towards traffic problems and make safety of residents here endangered. Moreover, vehicles that are trapped in streets emanate even more gas pollutes, because they spend more time in passing through the crowed of vendors. Therefore, I would encourage those people who sell things along the street to move to another designated location, such as uptown. It can be predicted that gas pollutes and traffic sticklers would be considerably reduced and solved, provided that my action effects.

In summary, the environment problems are the most crucial and paramount matters that we must resolve, or all the occupants of my community will stand to bide a worse and worse environment. Then, in the final expression, I would like to do something to ameliorate environmental situation of my community if I could spare several hours per month to change it.

175. Some students like classes where teachers lecture (do all of the talking) in class. Other students prefer classes where the students do some of the talking. Which type of class do you prefer? Give specific reasons and details to support your choice.

DISTINCTIVE CHOICE UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES

Whether professors should lecture all the time or encourage students to engage in vehement discussion in class primarily depends on special courses. In cases of traditional scientific subjects, such as mathematic, physics, etc, it is better for teachers to give lessons on their own. In other cases, such as literature, fine art, and so forth, it is better for mentors to inspire neophytes to discuss. In still other cases, lecturing and discussion can be integrated together to provide a good choice.

As a threshold matter, in traditional subjects of a long history, efficiency of both teaching and learning would be higher to lecture, rather than to debate. This is especially true in physics, mathematic, to name just a few. As a common sense, this kind of specialties requires rigorous logical thinking and coherent comprehension of objective world. Thus, if a teacher dominates class, it will be easier for him or her to put knowledge in a clarified pattern -- origins, development and outcomes. Moreover, this kind of teaching also enables students to better understand what is taught, in respect that they are not always disrupted by questions which can be solved after class.

Secondly, with respect to literal courses, for example, language, history, and so forth, students who are actively engaged in debate with professors who instruct and classmates could learn much more than those who merely "listen" to speeches given from blackboard. There are several benefits of discussing in literal subjects. For instance, consider a circumstance in which a teacher is talking about Shakespeare’s works with students. It is highly possible that the teacher only refer to certain patterns created by Shakespeare. However, if students propose various questions about historical background of that period, such as why Voltaire rejected Shakespeare’s works as barbaric, both professors and students stand to gain a lot.

Thirdly, sometimes neither lecturing nor discussion is the better choice of teaching and learning, such as some practical field studies -- computer science. In such circumstance, combing lecturing and debating may be the best selection, which is determined by the features of computer science. Computer science has something to do with math, such as algorithms, which needs to be explained in detail like what is done in lecturing. On the other hand, programming is also an paramount factor in mastering computer science, which demands ardent discussion among groups. Therefore, it is a wise decision to integrate lecturing and debate in such a course.

In summary, there is no silver bullet to the question that whether lecturing or discussion is a better choice. In traditional subjects, it is better to select lectures; in cases of literal subjects, it is better to encourage discussion; nevertheless, in some modern subjects, combination would be the most beneficial choice.

185. You have enough money to purchase either a house or a business. Which would you choose to buy? Give specific reasons to explain your choice.

A BUSINESS IS ATTRACTING MORE THAN A HOUSE

If I had sufficient money to purchase either a house or a business, personally, I would be prone to buy the latter. A business could make my dreams come into truth, whereas a house couldn't help me achieve my goals. Business has many benefits that are out of house's reach.

As a threshold matter, I would buy an information technology multi-national corporation if I were endowed with enough money. A company which focuses on high technology will provide super opportunity for me to exhibit my interests in computers and Internet. For instance, with the help of online shopping website, it is easy for me to develop convenient software that compares items customers select, then output various aspects of comparison and give the most optional choice for consumers. My idea would be realized on condition that numerous customers feel comfortable with my endeavor. This feeling cannot be fulfilled by buying a house.

Secondly, a accomplished business will enable me to buy several houses if I wish; on the contrary, a large, stylish house won't induce to any achievement in any other perspective of my life. As a common sense, price of house is quite stable and doesn’t increase much during a decade; thus I may not benefit a lot from a purchasing and selling a house. Instead, a flourished enterprise may gather numerous fortunes for me. As a result, it is highly relaxed to purchase as many houses as I am willing to, because profits from operating a business may go far beyond of the cost of owning a house.

Thirdly, some people may hold that one will certainly feel relaxed and comfortable if he or she lives in his or her own house and therefore it is better to buy house first. However, according to my experience, friends of mine, who are living a life in rented houses, do feel enjoyable. They just don't care houses they are living are possessed by them or others. Moreover, euphoria doesn't depends on concrete house one has, but on how successful and how happy the job that he or she is undertaking is. In reality, some folks who have bought houses may even feel frustrated because they have no extra money to invest in stock market.

In summary, benefits of purchasing a business overwhelm those of a house. Business's advantages can provide me larger possibility of success than that of a house. Then, in the final analysis, I would definitely choose to buy a business if I had abundant wealth.

181. In your country, is there more need for land to be left in its natural condition or is there more need for land to be developed for housing and industry? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

KEEP LAND IN NATURAL CONDITION

In my country, it is more important to leave land untouched than to utilize land to cultivate or develop for housing and industry, though area of my country is quite larger. During the past a few years, some districts of my state have been over-used to satisfy practical goals. Now, it is time to protect land from being demolished.

As a threshold matter, loss of forest in western districts of my country has trampled fragile wet land environment, which leads to serious outcomes. For instance, deforestation has increased incidents of dust storm -- a severe weather condition during which dust is blown up into air. Under dust storm, folks easily inhale in lots of dirty particles that harm their lungs. Besides, loss of wet land also place endangered species on a even more dangerous situation. For example, panda has much less living space than it has half-century ago. Thus, form the perspective of natural environment, it is better to leave land intact than to utilize.

Secondly, because industrial development has already reached a relatively high level, there is no imperative demand to transform natural land to districts that are suitable for factories and housing. For instance, in the capital of my country, merchants have built numerous of buildings in the most recent ten years. These new housing has not been sold out yet. The reason why still many people have to lease house is that price of household is too high and prohibitive. Thus, natural land should be given way to building more housing due to the essential reason mentioned above.

Thirdly, to a further step, special land in my country ought to be carefully protected instead of just leaving it in its original status. Consider, for example, the biggest desert in my country, which is located in the northern district near the capital. The desert is expanding at certain rate every year. Certainly, it is impossible for us to build houses or cultivate crops in it; however, the desert may encroach southern to proximity of the capital during next century, according to environmental scientists, on condition that we fail to change it into wet land. Thus, it is crucial to ameliorate specific land into a green place.

In summary, it had better to leave land in its natural situation or to protect it from being demolished than to be developed for building more houses or factories. Furthermore, land with natural condition provides us with a myriad of benefits, including fresh air, stable weather, and so forth. Then, in the final analysis, I support that land ought to be untouched and improved.

A LAPTOP IS MY FAVORITE CHOICE

One year's journey is certainly not a short trip. A lot of special items are available to consort with us along the trip. Besides clothing and personal care things, I would like to bring a laptop with me. In effect, a laptop will help me in several aspects. This is especially true when someone is on a long trip around the world.

As a threshold matter, laptop eases my fatigue from daylight's traveling. After a day long's walking and perhaps a happy dinner, I would be quite dreary when I return to hotel. Then, a laptop is the best instrument that relaxes my nerve. For instance, it is quite enjoyable to watch movies on laptop lying in bed. Vivid characters shown on screen surely wipe off tiredness and make me forget boring things happened during day time. Thus, laptop can help me out of tired status by playing enslaving movies and television programs.

Secondly, laptop also enables me access Internet at any time, at any locus, which makes me update to the latest news. For example, when I sit on a bench in a park or in train, I may power on my laptop and click the Explorer icon to read news in a browser. Thus, I will know what is taking place in other states: for example, how is election going on? Moreover, through laptop connected wirelessly to Internet, I can conveniently post articles in my blog, and share weird experiences in my trip with my parents and best friends. If they commentate on my blog, from this sense, I communicate with them throughout my one year's trip.

Thirdly, with the help of a laptop, I can easily review photos taken by digital cameras. For instance, a couple of ingenuous girls are playing games delightedly under high aspens, and I snapshot them after carefully selecting perspective. However, I don't know whether this photo is a consummate work. Then, laptop can tell me it is, or it isn't. The process is quite simple: the only thing I need to finish is to check the photo in my laptop. By viewing it in photo display software running in laptop, I can determine if it is necessary to shot another photo to reserve the very exciting moment.

In summary, laptop can satisfy my a lot of demands when I am on a trip around the world. I can communicate with friends in home, update my blog to share euphoria with them and check quality of photos. None of these things will occur without a laptop. Therefore, from my standpoint, laptop is requisite if I take a long time journey.

161. People remember special gifts or presents that they have received. Why? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

SEVERAL FACTORS CONTRIBUTE TO SPECIAL FEELING

It is quite natural for humans that we remember peculiar presents from friends and parents, no matter the gifts are physical or mental. On the other hand, this phenomenon is quite weird, because we often forget things we purchase for ourselves, which may be very expensive or rarely available. In effect, it is the mental factor that induces towards this feeling: friends don't often give gifts to us, and we will be deeply moved when we receive one.

As a threshold matter, gifts or presents from parents stand for their love for their children. Parents have a lot reasons to purchase special things, such as a watch, a cake or a bike, to reward offspring. As a result, backgrounds, or reasons make sons and daughters recall forever. For instance, my father promised me a special gift to me on condition that I would get a good performance in final exams, but he didn't say what kind of gift it was. Then, as any one else would do, I worked hard, and endeavored, and did have high score finally. Father kept his words: the gift turned out to be a watch. I often remember this gift, since it represented my hard work and father's love.

Secondly, our friends surely do not give us valuable items everyday. In some kind of sense, the low frequency of receiving gifts from our friends also makes us cherish these certain gifts. For example, some people only receive special things when they have birthday: which typically is one time within one year. Thus, under this circumstance, folks may remember whatever their friends send to them. Perhaps merely "Happy Birthday!" greeting dose impress us greatly, because we will never hear it again until next year. Therefore, scarcity of presents is an important factor in making us remember them.

Thirdly, presents' value is another potential factor that folks may admit without doubt. As a common sense, an invaluable diamond or automobiles certainly will not be forgotten easily from receiver's standpoint. If economical cost of gifts is worth one month's salary, or even more, receivers may remember these precious things even in their dreams. Thus, though some persons might be reluctant to admit, it is a fact that the more expensive a present is, the more frequently we remember it.

In summary, there are still other factors that result in folks' recollection. However, from the aspect of psychology, scarcity, high value, and meanings behind presents are the pivotal roles in making people remember specific gifts and presents.

151. What is the most important animal in your country? Why is the animal important? Use reasons and specific details to explain your answer.

THE MOST IMPORTANT SPECIES IN MY COUNTRY: PANDA

In my country, panda is one of the most paramount animals, which has been convinced among folks for many years. Panda sometimes is called the national treasure in my country. Generally speaking, panda has a lot of specific characteristics that none of other animals have.

As a threshold matter, panda is one species that has not changed much since it came to our planet -- Earth. Thus, scientists can learn numerous, precious information from panda. For instance, genes of panda conserve a lot of particular patterns formed at ancient periods, which attract various kinds of researches. These special genes can tell us a lot about what was typical and what was rarely present thousands of years ago. Moreover, human beings can make use of panda's genes to produce medical doses, which is beneficial for our health.

Secondly, appearance of panda also plays an important role in attributing to its status of national treasure. Its ball-like shape places it in a unique form which is not imitated by any other species. Moreover, the black, round area circulating its eyes looks like that it wears a goggle and enslave many people's love, from teenagers to older people. Furthermore, there is no third color shown by panda, except black and white, which is quite different from other cats: such as panther, lion or tiger. Thus, its attractive body shape and peculiar composition of fur colors are ascribed to panda's prestige.

Thirdly, another crucial factor that makes panda precious must be its number of biome. The current quantity of pandas in my country is amazingly small. In effect, no other country owns a panda in exception that my country sends panda to it as a present. My country has already listed panda in catalog of endangered species. More importantly, the ability of reproduction of panda is unbelievable limited; as a result, one single panda may merely give birth to no more than 5 sons and daughters within one year. Some pandas may not be pregnant without help from scientists.

In summary, there are still other elements panda possesses, which make panda's unparalleled characteristics. Its shape, color and scarcity of population, and so forth, all place panda in the most critical animal in my state.

141. If you could make one important change in a school that you attended, what change would you make? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.

REBUID NEW TEACHING BUILDINGS IS IMPERATIVE

If I had the opportunity of changing a special aspect of my university I attended, I would like to ameliorate conditions of teaching buildings. The teaching buildings were built more than 30 years ago, and now they are out of date and need to be polished or toppled down. If my idea could be put into practice, both students and professors would no doubt stand to get a lot of benefits.

As a threshold matter, available rooms and laboratories are limited now, whereas number of students and teachers are creeping in to large quantities. In current circumstance, students often find no additional space to study in when they go to classrooms or libraries. Free rooms are always occupied by only a small portion of students. Some students even get up at 6:00 A.M. in order to loot a location to study. Moreover, several professors have to crowd in a single lab as a result of space confines. Therefore, old teaching building cannot satisfy our demands.

Secondly, our studying and researching environment will be obviously improved on condition that we construct modern architectures to replace original, ragged buildings. Students who study in a brighter, more spacious classroom will certainly have much easier moods than they have in old ones. Besides, teaching assistants will surely feel more comfortable in a larger space as well, when they give lectures in front of students. Furthermore, more space means that we can purchase more books to exhibit in library; thus, it is more possible for students to find their favorite books.

Thirdly, if new buildings were constructed within a short time, my Alma Mater would enslave much more talented, aggressive freshmen and thus increase enrollments. Students who benefits from new architectures will hone special skills and find good jobs when they graduate from my university. As a result, these students will donate back to school, and we can build larger and modern teaching buildings. It is a positive effect. Furthermore, as for professors, our developed conditions of labs will also catch renowned professors' attention. Prominent experts may prefer to work in our university, which is beneficial for us.

In summary, replacing old, ragged buildings with modern, good ones benefits both our students and professors. Such reconstruction has potential influence of ameliorating basic physical and personnel conditions of my school. Consequently, that’s why I put forward my idea of to construct new teaching architectures.

131. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Only people who earn a lot of money are successful. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

MONEY SHOULD NOT BE THE ONLY ONE FACTOR

Under no circumstance should money be reckoned as the only criterion of how successful a person is. Moreover, sometimes people who manage to get million, or billion dollars can be said to be of great success. Generally speaking, matters of essence of human beings ought to be taken into account when judge a person to be famous or not.

As a threshold matter, in some cases, it is ridiculous to consider some one who earns a lot of money as renowned, because that person even doesn't endeavor his treasure. Consider, for example, a young man who naturally inherits considerable amount of fortune from his father. Can we say this guy is successful? The answer is obvious: No, of course. He hasn't strive for attainment, and thus doesn't deserve money. Therefore, it isn't wise to consider such people as successful if they do not fight for their goals.

Moreover, even people who don't earn much treasure are broadly recognized as successful. Money is not the only factor which influences a person's accomplishment. For instance, Martin Luther King receives great acknowledgement all over the world; however, Martin was surely not a wealthy man during his life time. Money cannot explain Martin's success. In effect, it is Martin's deep-held belief, in his inner mind, that to protect black people's rights that deserves folks' esteem.

Furthermore, there are still other criteria that contribute to attainment to a great extent -- such as determination, unpaid efforts to ameliorate environment, and so forth. Morality is one of the basic benchmarks when we talk about how prominent a person is. Quality of literal works written by poets is the essence of success. Whether a task is completed in time decides a soldier's achievement. How many patients recover from diseases determine how successful a surgeon is. All these paramount factors are listed in front of money in pecking order.

In summary, money is last thing to demonstrate a person's success. A lot of other elements are ascribed to achievements. Then, in the final analysis, I disagree with the opinion that only folks who get a lot of money are successful.

121. Some people trust their first impressions about a person's character because they believe these judgments are generally correct. Other people do not judge a person's character quickly because they believe first impressions are often wrong. Compare these two attitudes. Which attitude do you agree with? Support your choice with specific examples.

FIRST IMPRESSION CANNOT BE ALWAYS JUDGED AS CORRECT

Some people hold that a person's characters can be judged from the first meet with him or her. However, still other folks believe that only over long period can they get to understand a certain person. In my opinion, first impressions, usually, cannot reflect true essence of an individual. Sometimes, we form a false feeling of others when we know them at first glance.

As a threshold matter, we judge a person through his or her appearance, which is mere way possible to adopt under limited situation -- the first time we meet him or her. Nevertheless, this judgment often misleads us to a wrong sensation. For instance, we sometimes consider an individual as ugly simply because complexion of he or she is ugly to some extent. After getting along with that person for a long time, we may be amazed to find that he or she is beautiful kind person with sagacious wisdom. Thus, we made a false judgment under this scenario.

Secondly, specific circumstances under which we get to know others may cause wrong appreciation as well. Consider, for example, a formal occasion when people are dressed up. Folks there may all behavior gently, courteously, and seriously, which is understandable because any one who laughs aloud is reckoned as an idiot or an impolite person at least. Nonetheless, if we think they are men and women of polite, we are wrong. They might be quite crazy and neglect all proper restrictions -- which is their natural trait.

Thirdly, to the contrary of what majority might think, individuals who seem affable, somber, and polite when we talk to them for the first time may be gainful, narrow-minded in effect. I have experienced such a thing by myself. When I walked in campus one day, a young guy came to me and asked if I lost a watch. I had no idea of his intended action and said no. Later, I found my purse stolen when I get back to dorm. Therefore, we cannot judge that man as a gentleman.

In summary, first impression about a person's timbre cannot be always correct. Sometimes results turn out to make us feel devastated. Consequently, in the final analysis, we ought to spend a long time in communicating with others, make judgment about his or her personality through daily activities. Then, such judgment may be true.

111. Some people prefer to spend time with one or two close friends. Others choose to spend time with a large number of friends. Compare the advantages of each choice. Which of these two ways of spending time do you prefer? Use specific reasons to support your answer.

HOW TO SPEND TIME DEPENDS ON SPECIFIC SITUATIONS

When we have spare time, we tend to spend it with our friends. Some people prefer to stay with one or two intimate friends; however, still other people tend to share leisure time with a great number of friends -- such as to join a party, to go on vacation, etc. Generally speaking, both of those two choices have specific advantages.

With respect to folks who are prone to stay with only a few intimate friends, tranquility may be their pursuit. One or two friends don't mean noise, indeed. For instance, if someone encounters certain tough stickler, spending time with one single, close friend will help him or her work out that problem. Under this circumstance, pairs can spend enough time in communicating with each other, discussing possible solutions, and so forth; as a result, this small group of friends can feel relaxed, confident and even aggressive. This advantage that provides persons with deep insight usually can not be attained in environment of much more people present.

When it comes to talking about benefits of being together with a group of friends, there are several advantages which cannot gain from one single friend, either. As a common sense, taking part in activities in which a lot of people engage may have particular experiences that can make a person vent his or her vigor, or suppressed feelings. Consider, for example, a friend's birthday party -- an activity myriad of classmates and friends join in. In this situation, people often try their best to sing aloud and no one else cares how well you perform. Moreover, one might get to know other persons who are not familiar with him or her, and they find a lot of common topics. Therefore, people make new friends during public engagements, which is impossible in small talk between close friends.

In my opinion, there in no silver bullet to the question: which of the two ways of spending time do I prefer? In some cases, I would like to talk to one sole intimate friend. For example, if I have to choose a major from a broad range, parents or my roommates would be my preference, because such a thing needs to be solved only by personal experiences. In some other cases, I think I will turn to a league. For instance, a journey of exploring a cave will definitely encourage me to stay with as many friends as possible, in respect that it's a risky activity. Thus, under different kinds of situations, I may choose different choices.

In summary, both spending time with one or two close friends and joining in a group of friends have special benefits respectively. Whether to select the former one or the latter one depends on particular conditions I may encounter.

101. Some people like doing work by hand. Others prefer using machines. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

MACHINES HELP A LOT

Work can be finished or fulfilled by using people's own hands or utilizing machines. Personally speaking, I would have to say that I'd like to use machines, due mainly to various advantages of machines over hands.

As a threshold matter, machines can definitely increase efficiency of production. This is especially true in realm of industries. As a common sense, the Industrial Revolution replaced hand work with machines; as a result, industrial efficiency was ameliorated to a great extent. For instance, before the revolution, workers, or neophytes worked in private mills, and they produced limited kinds of hand crafts. However, Industrial Revolution completely changed such a situation. Employees started to manufacture products in assembly lines which were operated by machines. Therefore, machines can considerable increase efficiency.

Secondly, broad usage of automations can also ameliorate workers' operating circumstances to a much safer level, and thus decrease possibility of getting injured in bodies, which is common in artifacts made by hands. Consider, for example, the process of starving a stone into a delicate craft by knife. If human beings use their hands to complete this task, it is quite probable that they cut their fingers by absent of minds. Nevertheless, this sort of probability is less likely to happen, on condition that it is machines that go through the process. So, machines can be better able to protect security of employees.

Thirdly, in contemporary, wide use of various sorts of machines spare folks' time which we can spend on something more interesting. Take dish machines for example. With the help of dish machines, housewives are no longer boring daily washings. It especially help in frigid winter when no one would like to put his or her hands in frozen water. Moreover, parents can spend the time which was once allocated to washing in communicating with their sons and daughters, if they turn to machines. There are still other machines that can save time to more important affairs.

In summary, working by machines has a myriad of advantages over hands. Automations help me with a better planned and accurate schedule, thus I can seize more time to deal with more paramount problems than daily routines. Consequently, in the final analysis, I prefer to use machines as possible as I can.

91. If you could ask a famous person one question, what would you ask? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

MOTIVATION OF PERSISTING IN STRIVIING

If I had a opportunity of asking a famous person about one specific question, I would extremely appreciate this chance. Personally speaking, I would like to ask Michael Jordan, a famous player who once played in Chicago Bulls of NBA -- National Basketball Association, this question: how have you managed to keep fighting for your ideal goal for several years?

As a threshold matter, it is comprehensively recognized that Michael Jordan is one of the most successful basketball player in U.S.A. His determination, persistence, and innate trait are considered paramount, indispensible factors in Michael's achievement among thousands of his fans. Within Michael's athletic career, he won six final championships, which is hardly parallel today. Moreover, Michael's life outside courtyard exemplifies a man's duty and obligation as well. Thus, it is no wonder that millions of young basketball player all over the world want to be the second "Michael Jordan".

Then, since Michael has attained so much glorious accomplishment, there must be something special Michael deeply holds. The superficial reason may be contributed to his all year long exercising, training and practicing. However, when it comes to essence of Michael's hard work, the question aforementioned in my response arises: How can you keep striving for several years? This is a question that common people cannot answer. Is it his father's encouragement? Is it his children's hope? Or, is it someone else, for example, Michael's best teammate Pipen?

This question can only be consummately answered by Michael. No one else could provide alternative response. If it were his father's influence, I would be better able to understand how a crucial impact a father could have on his offspring. In this case, I would require myself to be strictly eligible when I have sons and daughters. If it were Michael's friend -- Pipen, I would more cherish my comrades than now. I know they are my intimate fellows, and strangers cannot replace them. If it were children's hope, I would improve my morality in order to be a good father.

In summary, if I had such a rare opportunity to ask Michael Jordan this question, I would learn a lot from his response. Furthermore, comparing Michael's experiences and mine would definitely make me become a better father, a reliable comrade of my friends, and exemplified tutor of next generation.

81. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Technology has made the world a better place to live. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

TECHNOLOGY HAS AMELIORATED OUR LIFE

In my observation, development of technology has greatly ameliorated our planet to a better place to live. Our daily life becomes more and more convenient with help of advanced technology. People spend less time on road than ever before; communication among folks is much more instant. There are a lot of aspects in which high technology has improved our living situation.

As a threshold matter, computer technology has saved us considerable time in dealing with difficult things. For instance, the Instant Message Software, which allows us to type a few words and send them by simply clicking the Enter key, decrease amount of time messages are transferred. In ancient times, correspondences needed a couple of days to be sent to receiver, while today only a few seconds are required. The concept of auto offices increases our productive efficiency as well.

Secondly, the invention of auto mobiles is another product of technology. In contemporary, it is hard to imagine what life would be without autos. Commuters take bus to go to work everyday; some tourists utilize their private cars to travel around; and elites often drive luxury vehicles to show their status. Consider, for example, former life without autos. People spent several hours in walking from a place to another. Travelling to a different province required nearly a month or so. I believe no one today would like to go back to those inconvenient periods.

Thirdly, some persons who hold the opposite view that advanced technology has made our environment more worse than was in ancient times. Admittedly, deforestation, over amount of carbon oxide and other kinds of demolishment have posed negative impacts on Earth; however, this has nothing to do with development of technology. Moreover, current damaged environment primarily results from our abuse of natural resources. To the contrary of what those people may think, scientists have been being trying their best to improve technology to improve natural circumstances.

In summary, technology has made our Earth a better place to live. Life becomes more convenient; computer communications ameliorates our efficiency; and autos reduce time we spend in moving. Then, in the final analysis, I would support the positive impacts advanced technology has on our life.
